It is where we create awareness of mental health problems around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. So this organization is raising this awareness every year in DUT to help all students to fight their mental illness, help student to succeed academically and socially, and provide ways to boost positive mental health, promote mental health by de-shaming mental illness and encouraging students to communicate and require help if they need it. DUT student counselling and health is based on the Steve Biko campus lower library complex, but also offer services on the ML campus and City campus, you need to book for appointments lastly it is a service for registered DUT students only.
The aim of the organization is to bring awareness to mental health, provide exposure to the services and programs that are available to students, the student engagement and distribution of informative pamphlet like anxiety, suicide, relationships, depression, assertiveness, sexual assault, trauma, effective study and how to prepare for exams. The event usually starts from 10:00-13:00pm outside the Steve Biko library, there are some activities prepared for students to participate in that to assist boost positive mental health like filling in a check list, bead work, colouring mandalas and student freely to share tips how they boost their mental health by writing in small cards.
